For a variety of different reasons, fabricators occasionally want to start over with a Product in Inventory. If you're considering starting over with a Product, you first need to decide what you would like to do with the slabs currently in your Inventory.
Do you want to leave your current Inventory untouched so you can use up the existing slabs on hand for that Product? Or would you like to remove the Product you currently have in your Inventory, do a physical count, and then assign new serial numbers to those slabs once you create your new product?
Option 1: Use Existing Slabs, Retire Product But Keep in Inventory.
- Go to Settings > Inventory > Products and click the underlined Product.
- Click the Edit icon to the right of Product Info.
- Rename the Product. It is useful to indicate it is no longer in use in the name, like "Corian-RETIRED".
- The retired Product still show in Inventory and can still be allocated to Jobs, but will prevent ordering more. When you have no more of your retired Product, you can mark it Inactive. See Option 2 below or Related Articles.
Option 2: Make Product Inactive and Start Over With a New Count.
- Go to Settings > Inventory > Products and click the underlined product.
- Click the Edit icon to the right of Product Info.
- Rename the Product if you haven't already and check the box for Inactive.
- Now you can recreate the Product using the same Attributes or you can create new Attributes.
- Purchase Order history will still be intact, but the Product name will be changed.
